About us
Galleria del Leone opened in 1993 in Venice,
Italy by a French talent scout Pierre Higonnet.
Constantly searching for the most elegant, tasteful affordable art in
Continental Europe, Galleria del Leone offers an inventory
of over 1500 works by over 40 different living artists carefully selected.
Located on the Giudecca Island in the heart of historic
Venice. The gallery is composed of a 75 square meter exhibition hall,
an intimate sculpture garden and a large terrace overwiewing the whole
city.
We have over 800 different black and white etchings
and engravings in stock. Prints that we handle are exclusively
made by their author (no phoney litho....) in traditionnal techniques
(etching, soft and hardground, burin, mezzotint) on copper or zinc plates.
Prints are all hand pulled on manual press either by the printmaker himself
or by a professional printer under the artist supervision.
We do no handle commercial prints and (or) editions of more than a hundred
copies.
Price range from 75 up to 1000 euros.
The Galleria del Leone has also on display works
on paper ( watercolors, drawings, mix media) as well as some
paintings and bronze sculptures some
of which the gallery is the editor (Nicolas
Alquin's Aperçus).
Every item we have is not (yet) online, so please do contact
us for a specific request.
In 12 years, Galleria del Leone has organised over 50 exhibitions
and has participated in some of the world's most reputable fairs such
